Fruit & Flower invites you to an evening of Jazz, Juice Joints & Generosity:
WHY? We have made great progress on our capital improvements projects. This fiscal year, two classrooms have been completed and two more will begin just after the auction. Common area upgrades are underway including new carpeting to be installed in March.
Now, the work ahead: four classrooms, converting the storage room into a multi-purpose space, then all of the sexy stuff: new HVAC, roofing, and asphalt.
The Classroom Competition gives you a chance to extend your contribution by indicating which class you are supporting. We are offering a prize to the classroom who raises the most money in ticket sales, online cash donations, and classroom projects.
WHAT TO DO WITH THE WEE ONES WeVillage presents the Fruit & Flower Auction Night Pajama Party! Kids are encouraged to come dressed in pajamas to party with Fruit & Flower classmates and siblings as the parents enjoy the Roaring 20’s Auction & Gala. This is a closed event for Fruit & Flower families ages 18 months -12 years. Pizza, fun, games, and prizes will be provided! For more information click here.
WHAT TO DO WITH THE WILD ONES We have an arrangement with Ride On Portland to offer their designated driver service for the event. Haven't heard of Ride On? You drive to the party, they drive you home in your own car. Another Ride On team member follows you to take the driver back. The cost is $15 per car, not passenger (locations outside of Portland, such as Vancouver or Beaverton, may result in a higher fee). You will book directly with them (we will send you instructions), but we would like you to indicate your interest in this service when purchasing tickets, so they can get an idea of staffing needs. They will be available from about 9:30pm until everyone starts singing 'Danny Boy'.
WHERE AND WHEN Wieden+Kennedy, 224 NW 13th Saturday, April 28, 2012 6:00pm - 10:00pm
COST OF ADMISSION $60 per person
RAFFLE There are two raffle opportunities:
- $100 for a chance to win a $1000 Fruit & Flower tuition voucher (limited to 50 entries) - $25 for a chance to win a new iPad (OK, not very 20's-ish, but still very cool)
GETTING DOLLED UP? Flappers, Gangsters, The Great Gatsby, Douglas Fairbanks, Rudolph Valentino, Clara Bow, The Gishes - if you want.
FOOD AND DRINK The 1920's were known for a variety of cuisines becoming mainstream. Red Sauce Restaurants and Chop Suey Houses were opening everywhere. To that effect, we have invited a variety of Portland's best food carts to share their treats.
For the Prohibitionists, beer, wine, and bottled water will be hosted. For the Bootleggers, we welcome you to join the Big Bottom Whiskey Speakeasy (membership details to come) for your Giggle Juice and Hooch needs.
THE EVENT Whether you are a Big Timer or a Tomato, a Fella or a Moll, a Daddy or a Hoofer, a Sheik or a Sheba, the Wanderlust Orchestra and Troupe will keep you entertained and in the mood. No row after row of silent auction items. Instead, everyone can make whoopee with our Boardwalk Games of Chance, The Roaming Auction, the ever-popular Wall of Wine, and of course, the Live Auction with the Cat's Pajamas Classroom Projects.
